This incident happened last Wednesday morning in Uruguay. Lavezzi was taken to Cantegrill Sanatorium hospital for emergency treatment with a wound in the abdomen and was also found to have a broken collarbone.
Although Lavezzi’s family claimed he was injured by falling down a ladder while changing a light bulb, according to El Observador newspaper, police sources said Lavezzi was stabbed by a family member at a party in Jose Ignacio, around 5:00 a.m. bright.
The initial cause was determined to be an argument related to money. The identity of the former Argentina striker’s family members is currently unknown.
Lavezzi was a very famous striker in Europe in the 2010s. He joined Napoli before playing for PSG. After leaving the Paris team, Lavezzi went to China to play for Hebei China Fortune and retired in 2019.
He has a total of 51 caps for Argentina, scoring 9 goals. Although he was once Messi’s teammate on the national team, Lavezzi is not the hero of this team. He proved unlucky with major titles when he finished second in the 2014 World Cup, 2015 and 2016 Copa America respectively.
In 2008, Lavezzi, along with Messi, Sergio Aguero and Angel Di Maria, helped Argentina win the gold medal at the 2008 Summer Olympics, after defeating Nigeria in the final.
