Antiquities displayed inside the Imhotep Museum in Saqqara, south of Cairo, Egypt

According to Xinhua News Agency, the newly restored Imhotep antiquities museum reopened on December 3 at the Saqqara tomb area, south of the Egyptian capital Cairo.

Named after the architect and Prime Minister of Pharaoh Djoser, the second king of Egypt’s 3rd Dynasty, this museum houses 286 artifacts in six main galleries, along with about 70 artifacts are on temporary display.

According to Egyptian Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Issa, this is one of the country’s most beautiful archaeological museums with collections of antiquities ranging from statues, vases, jars and tombstones to tools. monuments and burials, most of which were excavated at Saqqara, a tomb site recognized as a World Heritage Site by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) along with other Giza and Dahshur Pyramids.
