In the top 10 oldest players competing at Europe’s largest football festival in Germany Summer 2024, Pepe occupies the number 1 position. The Portuguese midfielder attends EURO 2024, an international tournament that may be the last mine at the age of 41.
Ranked 2nd on this list after Pepe is his teammate on the national team, Cristiano Ronaldo. Similar to Pepe, EURO 2024 could also be the last international tournament for the 39-year-old striker playing for Al-Nassr.
Ranked 3rd after Pepe and Ronaldo is veteran Luka Modric. Even though he is 38 years old, the Real Madrid star is still the mainstay of the Croatian team.
Behind Luka Modric are Navas (Spanish team), Giorgi Loria (Georgia), Neuer (Germany), Giroud (France), Pekarik (Slovakia), Kasper Schmeichel of Denmark. Last on this list is Juraj Kucka of Slovakia.
Along with the Portuguese team, Slovakia is the team with the most players (2) in the top 10 oldest stars at EURO 2024. At the tournament in Germany, Slovakia is in Group C with England, Denmark and Serbia. Meanwhile, Portugal is in Group F with Türkiye, Czech Republic and Georgia.
According to Opta’s supercomputer, Portugal is the team with the 5th highest chance of winning EURO 2024 (9.2%), after England, France, Germany and Spain. Meanwhile, Slovakia’s chance of winning the championship is only 0.3%.
