The incredible mountain church of Ethiopia
Abuna Yemata Guh is an old rock carved church located in Hawzen Woreda in Tigray Region of Ethiopia. It is located at the height of 2,580m (8,460ft) from the sea level and is supposed to have been made in 5th Century AD.
The dry weather and lack of moisture has preserved remarkably well its original paintings. It is one of 35 churches built on a high ground in Ethiopia.
The only way to get there is to climb a steep cliff where there are carved holes for your hands and feet. Although Abuna Yemata Guh is most inaccessible place of worship in the world, according to legend not single person has fallen off while attempting to climb it.
