This is a unique initiative of Balneario 12, a famous resort located in the city of Mar del Plata, eastern Argentina.

A giant mural of Messi was painted on the soccer field to commemorate the first anniversary of Argentina winning the world championship. The work was done by Grupo Sismo, a leading street painting artist in Argentina.

The inauguration of the giant mural of Messi at the end of December included the presence of Chiqui Tapia, president of the Argentine Football Federation, and many former players.

From January 2, Balneario 12 resort will open its doors for fans to enter the football stadium and write messages to Messi on the mural.

This activity not only honors Messi but also attracts more tourists to the resort. After the mural is covered with messages from fans, these messages will be delivered to Messi.

The first messages appeared on the large Messi picture, coming from children and former players.

“Leo, thank you”, “Thank you idol”, “Thank you for never giving up” are some typical messages from fans.

“Leo is a phenomenon and he deserves everything,” was the message written by Turco Garcia, former Argentina international and Huracan club legend.

Daniel Montenegro, former Marseille and Argentina midfielder, wrote: “Messi is the greatest player in football history.”

Balneario 12 is a resort associated with important football events in Argentina. In 2020, when Maradona passed away, this resort also honored the Golden Boy by printing Maradona’s image on the swimming pool.
