Creepy evidence of Stone Age sacrificial rituals in Europe

Researchers say they have found evidence of Stone Age sacrificial rituals at 14 sites in Europe. Sacrificial victims were tied up and buried alive more than 5,000 years ago.

Through research at 14 Stone Age sites in Europe, archaeologists found evidence of grisly ancient sacrificial rituals.

In particular, an ancient tomb in Saint-Paul-Trois-Châteaux near Avignon, southern France contains grain and the remains of 3 women. Experts’ research results show that these people were buried there about 5,500 years ago.

What surprised and even shocked the researchers was the cause of death of the three women above. Based on the condition of the remains, archaeologists know they were killed intentionally.

These three women were victims of a sacrificial ritual. They lost their lives in a method called “incaprettamento”, which means tying the neck to two legs bent behind the back, causing the victim to have a painful death.

According to experts, “incaprettamento” appears to have been a common method of sacrifice in Stone Age Europe.

The above scary sacrificial rituals were performed by ancient people related to the agricultural sector.

Senior study author Eric Crubézy, a biological anthropologist at Paul Sabatier University in Toulouse, France, said there were many agricultural symbols discovered in ancient tombs. A wooden structure built above it was aligned with the sun at the solstices, he noted, and some broken stones for grinding grain were found nearby.

In addition, archaeologists also found documents, records, and Neolithic rock art works in Addaura Cave in Sicily dating from about 14,000 BC to 11,000 BC. The original text appears to depict two people tied up in an “incaprettamento” fashion.
