Scheepmaker crowned pigeon (Goura scheepmakeri) is distributed in the southeast of New Guinea island.
Among them, the western crowned pigeon (Goura cristata) is the most typical species, distributed in the northwest of New Guinea island.
Both parents incubate an egg for 28 to 30 days and the chicks take another 30 days to have full feathers and wings. Birds’ lifespan can reach over 20 years
Four species of crowned pigeon have been recorded with relatively close distributions and little difference in appearance.
