Talented Australian photographer Christian Spencer has dedicated his life to capturing Brazilian wildlife. The 19 years he spent in Itatiaia National Park, Brazil, resulted in a wonderful project titled ‘Winged Prism’.

Spencer believes there is beauty in taking a moment to observe the wildlife around you. That’s when he first noticed the rainbow prisms that a hummingbird creates.
He then embarked on the difficult task of capturing the small birds that fly up to 55 kilometers per hour (35 mph), facing the sun. Hummingbirds, which flap their wings 80 times per second, also contributed to the difficulty of this task.
Spencer had to capture the exact moment the sun penetrated the hummingbirds’ wings in order to capture this beautiful prism.
The result of his work is impressive. The photos are completely organic and no digital manipulation is used.
You can find the full collection and more of Spencer’s work on her website and Instagram. You can also purchase the print yourself.
This isn’t the first time Spencer has captured this prism. In 2011 he filmed the award-winning film ‘The Dance of Time’.
But the hummingbirds are so beautiful that he had to go back and film them again. Beautiful.
