The oldest multi-page book in the world is part of the permanent exhibition of the National Museum of History in Sofia.
Dating to about 660 BC, is the Thracian Gold Book that was discovered 70 years ago whilst digging a canal off the Struma river in Bulgaria. It is sometimes called Etruscan because of similitudes between the two populations.
The book is made of 6 sheets of 24 carat gold bound together with rings. The plates are written in Thracian/Etruscan characters, and a horse is also depicted, a horseman, a Siren, a lyre and soldiers.
