Belonging to the Strobilanthes genus, which consists of approximately 250 species, with 46 being native to India, this plant was first identified in the 19th century by Christian Gottfried Daniel Nees von Esenbeck. The neelakurinji is known for its unique blooming cycles, which can range from annual to once every 16 years. In the depths of India’s forests hides the mysterious Ghost Orchid, also known as Dendrophylax Fawcettii, which is considered to be one of India’s most enigmatic flowers.
