Bellingham had an excellent first half of the season at Real Madrid. This 20-year-old midfielder has scored 17 goals in 21 appearances in all competitions, including 13 goals in La Liga, the highest in the tournament. Notably, he just moved to Real in the summer of 2023 for 113 million pounds from Dortmund.
The England international broke Cristiano Ronaldo’s record of scoring the most goals in his first 15 matches for Real Madrid. And according to statistics from the CIES Football Research Center, Bellingham is currently the most valuable player in the world, his price has skyrocketed in the past few months.
Bellingham is currently valued at 267.5 million euros (230 million pounds). Meanwhile, his former Dortmund teammate Erling Haaland is the second most valuable player in the world with 251.2 million euros (216.73 million pounds).
Brazilian duo Vinicius Junior and Real’s Rodrygo are the third and fourth most valuable players in the world, worth €250.3m (£215.96m) and €247.9m respectively (213.89 million pounds).
Arsenal star Bukayo Saka entered the Top 5 as CIES valued the England star at 223 million euros (192 million pounds). Saka’s England team-mate Phil Foden is the sixth most valuable player in the world, worth 195.8 million euros (£170 million).
Teenage star Gavi of Barcelona for 175.4 million euros (151.3 million pounds) and Julian Álvarez of Man City for 164.7 million euros (142.10 million pounds) ranked 7th and 2nd. 8 on the list.
Jamal Musiala is the most valuable player in the Bundesliga and ranks 9th in the world with 152.4 million euros (131.49 million pounds). Martin Odegaard is the last person in the top 10 with 150.6 million euros (£129.94 million).
Some notable names in the Top 100 include Gabriel Martinelli (11th, 148 million euros), Federico Valverde (12th, 140.7 million euros), Dominik Szoboszlai (13th, 138.6 million euros) , Marcus Rashford (14th, 136.2 million euros), Pedri (16th, 125.2 million euros), Enzo Fernandez (17th, 123.6 million euros),… Notably, star Kylian Mbappe only ranked 27th on the list with a value of 106.2 million euros.
CIES’s player valuation analyzes player value based on a player’s age, position, goals, assists and number of appearances for the national team. Importantly, it also includes the remaining term of the player’s contract. Because the contract with PSG is only valid until June 2024, Mbappe’s value in the CIES rankings is seriously reduced.
Compared to estimates published last June, the number of players with a transfer value exceeding 100 million euros (£86.28 million) has almost doubled from 20 to 39. That shows that there will be strong inflation in player prices in the upcoming summer transfer period.
