Midfielder Toni Kroos shared about his decision to return to the German team after nearly 3 years.
So after much waiting, midfielder Toni Kroos has officially returned to the German team. The Real Madrid player will be on the team roster this coming March, thereby marking the first time wearing the German tank’s shirt since Euro 2020 3 years ago.
The reason for Toni Kroos to make this decision largely belongs to new coach Julian Nagelsmann, but the 2014 World Cup champion also personally feels he needs to help the team during an extremely difficult time. Sharing on the Einfach mal Luppen podcast, Kroos opened up:
“Coach Julian Nagelsmann contacted me and asked me how I felt about returning to the German national team. At that time, I still didn’t have too many thoughts. However, at that time I told him I still I’m pondering this issue. Many scenarios have appeared in my mind, what will happen if I return or refuse it. Every time I talk to Julian, without going into detail, I gradually convinced. That’s why I wanted to make the decision at the right time so no one has to wait. I’m extremely satisfied with my decision. It took a while for me to be sure get what you want.”
“Regarding my return, of course I want to help the team, but I shouldn’t sanctify this. I just play a role in connecting with my teammates to hope that the German team will perform well, they are all good players. Now is the time to prove our abilities as a united team. I feel good and ready to play for the team without any problems.”
The return of Toni Kroos is extremely important in the context of the German team not having a good record at recent major tournaments. Die Mannschaft does not want to have to stop early in the upcoming home tournament. .
