The project to rebuild this world-famous stadium began last June, after Barca won the La Liga championship. First built in 1957, the Camp Nou stadium saw workers using cranes to install all 100,000 seats as well as the pitch.
The restructuring plan is progressing well after Barca provided an update last month. And they even sold pieces of grass from the old Camp Nou stadium for 400 euros to the fans to fund the reconstruction of the new stadium.
Photos of the final design have now been released to the public. Yesterday, the College of Architects of Catalonia released computer-generated images showing what Camp Nou will look like.
The stadium will retain its previous design core while expanding its capacity to 105,000 seats. And the redesigned interior will include indoor escalators. The press room will also be upgraded and feature a theater-like room for the media.
The biggest change, however, will be the addition of a canopy. The central part of the project will be the largest canopy in the whole of Europe. And Barca are even confident that they can start playing at their new home stadium as early as November this year. The project is expected to be completed on time for the 2025/26 season.
