Determined to return to the group of the best PGs in the NBA at the moment, Trae Young practiced a lot this past summer, including many private sessions with Stephen Curry.
Coincidentally, Curry is at the center of discussion surrounding who is the best PG of all time, so Trae Young shared his own opinion on the debate.
The Atlanta Hawks star did not hesitate to call Stephen Curry the best ball defender ever, and said why he supports the “chef” of the Golden State Warriors.
“ For me, maybe he (Stephen Curry – Reporter) is the best ball defender ever ,” Trae Young said on the From The Point podcast.
“ And more specifically, Stephen is not afraid to share and teach future generations. If you ask, he will definitely answer, giving you the advice you need .
Because he had many training sessions with Stephen Curry last summer, Trae Young added that he learned a lot.
From adjustments in expertise and technique to breathing control, Young understood why Curry could continuously move, change speed and change direction but still stop to throw effectively.
“We had very tough drills, running and moving around a lot and shooting baskets. Its purpose is not to exercise physical strength but to train our brains to maintain concentration when falling into a tired state.
Running so much will make you lose focus because your body prioritizes helping you catch your breath and regain strength. Stephen taught me how to handle such moments, how to use my breathing to still be able to finish well.”

Starting from practicing with Curry, Trae Young may have leaned towards the “chef” in the debate surrounding who is the greatest ball-playing defender in history.
Up to this point, many individuals have spoken up and shared their views. Two basketball legends of the last century, Michael Jordan and Magic Johnson, argued that Curry is the best shooter, not a defender.
The Golden State Warriors defender personally responded to Jordan and Magic, saying he respected everyone’s opinions.
Returning to Trae Young, the Atlanta Hawks defender will enter the 2023-24 season hoping to improve his finishing efficiency.
Last season he averaged 26.2 points and 10.2 assists per game, but Young’s FG percentage was only 43% FG and 33.5% 3PT, a sharp decrease compared to his career average.
This contributes to the defender born in 1998 not being able to make the All-Star and All-NBA squads like the 2021-22 season. Then he was ignored when the US team gathered its squad for the 2023 FIBA World Cup.
